- 1 January – M 4.5 earthquake, 23 km (14 mi) north northeast of Lembang, West Java. Four hundred houses were damaged in Sumedang.[1][2]
- 3 January – M 5.3 Banten earthquake, 60 km (37 mi) southwest of Pelabuhanratu, Banten.[3]
- 5 January – Four killed and 37 injured in a train head-on collision between KA Turangga operated by Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and KRL Bandung Raya operated by KAI Commuter near Cicalengka, West Java.[4]
- 7 January – Third presidential debate was held at Istora Senayan, Jakarta. The debate discussed issues of defense, security, international relations, globalization, geopolitics and foreign policy.[5][6]
- 14 January – KA Pandalungan operated by Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) derailed near Tanggulangin Station, East Java.[7]
- 21 January – The fourth vice presidential debate for the 2024 elections was held with the themes Energy, Natural Resources, Food, Carbon Tax, Environment and Agrarian Affairs, and Indigenous Peoples.
- 29 January – Chairman of Student Executive Board at University of Indonesia, Melki Sedek Huang, was found guilty of doing a sexual assault and receive sanctions in the form of academic suspension for one semester.[8]
- 31 January – Gadjah Mada University released Bulaksumur petition which demanded President Jokowi and his staff to stop the irregularities that occurred in the Indonesian government during his tenure and 2024 Indonesian presidential election, and urged them to return to the corridors of democracy.[9][10]

- 2 February – Mahfud MD has resigned as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of Indonesia ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election, and has been temporarily replaced by Tito Karnavian as Implementing the Duties of the Indonesian Ministry of Political, Legal and Security Affairs.[11][12]
- 4 February – The fifth presidential candidate debate for the 2024 election was held with the themes Information Technology, Improving Public Services, Intolerance, Education, Culture, Health and Employment.
- 10 February – The Anies-Muhaimin, Prabowo-Gibran, and Ganjar-Mahfud campaigns have been carried out in several cities in Indonesia, ahead of the 2024 presidential election. The Anies campaign was held at the JIS Stadium, North Jakarta. Prabowo's Grand Campaign at GBK Stadium, Central Jakarta. Meanwhile, the Ganjar-Mahfud Campaign was carried out in Solo and Semarang, Central Java.
- 12 February – The 2024 Election Campaign Silence Period begins and ends on 13 February, at this time it is prohibited to campaign again politically ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election.
- 13 February - Dirty Vote movie, a documentary film about the 2024 Election which was lost from YouTube searches, because it tells about fraud in the 2024 Presidential Election, and has drawn pros and cons from the audience, and was released at the start of the 2024 Election campaign's quiet period.[13][14][15]
- 14 February – 2024 Indonesian general election.[16][17]
- 16 February – Prabowo Subianto was proven involved in Semanggi shootings.[18] Maria Catarina Sumarsih, the mom of the victim, stated that prospect of accountability for past abuses in Indonesia would fade further under a Prabowo-led government if he was elected as a president.[18]
- 21 February – 2024 Sumedang tornado: At least 33 people are injured after a tornado strikes the town of Sumedang, West Java.[19][20][21]
